Nelson Storage has five new carts available, all with beautiful details.  Check out the Lineberry casting in the cast iron wheels, and the original stencils on the sides, and the original refurbished wooden tops.  These will make some spectacular coffee tables.

An Original Nutting wood top!

As rare as a coelicanth, as beautiful as the lines carved in ancient stone... Okay, enough waxing poetic, this is a beautiful Nutting cart, with the large casting on the end hardware. The hardware is painted, with a slightly glossy finish. This is the original Nutting cart wooden top, very hard to find, and in great condition. Introducing: Nutting Carts and Thomas Carts

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of new coffee tables made from carts manufactured by the Nutting Truck and Caster Company, and by the Thomas Truck and Caster Co. These carts both feature rounded corner hardware, and each type has its own very distinctive wheels and end wheel brackets. The Nutting cart end brackets are stamped to read Nutting, Patent, Aug 9, 98. (Hint: These carts are a lot more than 14 years old . . . ) The original stencils on the Nutting carts read Nutting Truck Co, Faribault, MN, U.S.A..

Thomas Truck and Caster Company carts have a very distinctive wheel -They show a very clear casting reading Thomas Truck and Caster Co, Iowa. along the spokes.

Extra large and Copper

Cart Number 21512 is extra large, measuring 60 x 30", unlike the standard 48" x 28" size cart. It's perfect for a larger couch, or a living room that has larger furniture or more room to fill.  The original oak top has a medium-dark stain.  This unique cart has Copper paint on the hardware. Wood top dimensions: 30 x 60 x 16" tall.

Reclaimed Pine Barn Siding

Floral wheel style, Glossy painted hardware.  The original top was not in a condition that could be salvaged, so it has been replaced with reclaimed Pine, resawn from the siding from a collapsed barn in Virginia.  The barn siding was beautiful, but in this rich dark stain, it is striking.  Wood top dimensions: 27 x 47 x 14.5

Why we do what we do

Why we do what we do:
Nelson Storage began a mere six years ago as a large, empty warehouse in the wide open expanses of rural Nelson County. The truism that "stuff" expands to fill the available space has been proven tenfold in the 25,000 square feet that are now bursting with the rescued detritus from construction sites, destruction sites, auctions, and landfull-destined piles.
The owners of Nelson Storage LLC have spent 20-odd years reclaiming modern and antique architectural pieces, with an eye to the unique and unexpected, both commercial and household: architectural salvage doors, household items, mantels, sinks, windows, tile, and much more.
It is very important to us to do everything we can to minimize the waste stream, whether that means recycling, reuse, or repurposing trash into furniture. The architectural and industrial pieces we find are beautiful in their own right, but we enjoy turning them into functional pieces.
I freely admit that when my husband saw great beauty in the Lineberry carts and Nutting carts used in furniture factories across the country, I suggested he have his eyesight checked. He saw coffee tables, garden ornaments, and historic architectural detail. I saw heavy, dirty, broken-down carts that took up tons of useful space. When he restored them into breathtaking works of art, I demurred. When, a year later, Restoration Hardware began offering them for over $1,000, I had to eat my words. I hope that you find as much beauty in them as we do, and I hope that you enjoy looking at our gallery of artifacts, which are quickly disappearing from our everyday lives. Add a little history to your life soon.

Polished Hoop Wheels

Cart Number 4612 is really striking. The large 'Hoop' wheel style allows for a higher table than the 15" 'Floral' style wheels, while offering the same delicate bearing. The wooden top is the original antique Red Oak, restored by cleaning, sanding, detailing, and sealed with a polyeurethane finish. All of the cast iron hardware is polished.
